more Spring fever

Another image captured on a very mild mid March evening in The Falls River Square District.

Spring fever

We’ve had some very unseasonably warm weather this past week (mid March). I’ve been getting out

in the evening and grabbing some images of the various signs of Spring.

rain + hot light

I was in downtown Akron tonight and it was raining. As I stepped outside of St. Bernard’s church

I noticed that one of the lights that illuminates the building (which is turned upward) was steaming and

smoking and fizzing like a witches cauldron because of the rain falling into the heated element.

I was out in the River Square District last week testing how long into the evening
the usable daylight is lasting now (mid March). I was surprised to find that I could
shoot easily until about 7:30 PM. The weather this week has been unseasonably warm, in the 70’s.
While out testing the light with my Nikon D700 I captured this ‘stars ornament’ which the city
puts on the top of lampposts in the downtown area during the winter.
Needless to say, they won’t be up much longer.

Sunday March 11th was quite a warm Spring-like day. 60 degrees and sunny.

I made this image of the amphitheater sculptures on Riverfront Square.

veteran’s memorial

This is a 90 second multimedia piece which I put together inspired by
a Vietnam Veteran’s memorial in my neighborhood.

Here is an image I made of a collection by fashion designer Abby Drake.

The ice rink at Falls River Square is being disassembled for the season.

A true indicator that Spring is not far off.
